FAIR LAWN AMATEUR
RADIO CLUB

INTRODUCTION
The new Fair Lawn Radio Emergency Service organization originally called The
Fair Lawn Amateur Radio Club was founded in the spring of 1961 making it one of
the oldest radio organizations in Northern New Jersey.
The club is a general interest radio organization, but The Fair Lawn Radio
Emergency Service organization during its 46-year history has always been
dedicated to helping our community and our country when needed in times of
crisis. Through Fair Lawn OEM, the Fair Lawn Radio Emergency Service
organization has always been considered part of the Borough's Emergency
Services. Many of our members are also RACES members and CERT members
(Community Emergency Response Team).
We are one of the few clubs that have a permanent
location. Our facilities include two large rooms for a total of five operating
stations. The stations are equipment with TWO Icom
746 PRO HF stations that use a Mosley 5 band beam, 40 meter dipole or an 80
meter dipole. We also have a 2-meter side band station with an 11-element beam.
These antennas are mounted on a 20-foot tower on the roof of the two-story
building. Other equipment includes a 2 meter FM station, a 2 meter/440 FM
station and a 220 MHZ FM station with antennas for all. A second tower is on
the roof that has a 5 element 6 meter beam, A 220 MHZ and 440 MHZ beams will be
added to this tower also.
Membership is open to any person interested in Amateur Radio whether
licensed or not.
